Our Story

Our centre Located in the UCOL campus at 342 Queen Street, Learning Adventures Masterton offers a welcoming, family-focused environment where each child's individual strengths and interests are nurtured and valued. Our well-resourced centre has been purposefully designed to create a bright engaging learning environment where babies and children to age five have everything they need to learn, have fun, and be safe.

Our centre is inspired by the Pikler approach to learning where self-initiated learning is encouraged and valued.

At Learning Adventures Masterton, we believe that the inclusion of family and the community are an integral part of each child’s positive development. We work with parents in partnership acknowledging their role as their child’s first teacher.

Getting to know each other:

We have an open door policy and encourage parents/caregivers to spend time at the centre getting to know our educators and the routines that we incorporate into our programme, but for any new enquires it is advisable to make an appointment so that time can be spent with you showing you around our centre. We have opportunities for parents, whanau and caregivers to meet during whanau evenings throughout the year

Meals:

Children enjoy a nutritious, balanced menu of morning and afternoon teas and lunches.  We place a strong emphasis on healthy eating and provide plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Outdoor area:

We have a large, peaceful, spacious outdoor environment which caters for all ages and stages. With a very generous size sandpit, vegetable gardens, climbing equipment and plenty of outdoor resources which encourage children’s involvement in creating a stimulating environment that can provide new challenges.

ERO Report

The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.

Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information.

You can read our centre’s ERO review here.
