Our Story

We are a busy centre with 4 qualified teachers, 1 teachers assistant/van driver plus van driver/cook.

Our centre is welcoming always, with our open door policy we welcome visits at any time. It has a homely feeling and we strive to create a homely environment where our children feel safe, nurtured and that there is a lot of laughter and learning. We are unique and so are our children, they are treated with respect and where they have respect for each other. Our Aroha reaches out to our families as well and we are always there to support them to.

We have developed community links: visiting the local nursing home weekly where young and the elderly come together. The 2 local libraries are visited by the children every week! We also have links to the Allen Brewster Centre who come to our centre twice a week to run Mini Boot Camp which the children really enjoy a full on fun exercise programme.

Our centre is a very humble building but what goes on inside speaks volumes on what we have to offer in learning, resources and love. When our children leave they leave well and truly ready for school and life.

Our purpose is to our children a sense of value that comes from doing practical things in a positive way. We garden, our children lead and create their own play and make their own adventures with the support of the staff.

We respect and value The Treaty of Waitangi as the umbrella where Biculturalism is implemented and practised.  All cultures and religions are welcome!

We provide healthy morning and afternoon tea for all children. A healthy lunch is provided for the fulltime children. All our food is vegetarian to ensure we are inclusive, and respectful of cultures and religions. At the odd times we provide Halal meat.

ERO Report

The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.

Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information.

You can read our centre’s ERO review here.
